The Coming Collapse of China
Pages: 285, Category: Economics
Publisher: Arrow Books
The book explains why China ‘must’ fail, in spite of the economic boom it experiences now. In the humorous and easy style of the author, various aspects of China is considered in livid detail. Its economy, the strengths and weaknesses, the impending doom of state-owned-enterprises including banks, entry to WTO and resultant problems, rebellious Falun Gong and other democratic groups are discussed. Even though the dead line given by Mr Chang is over by now (2005), the reasons for his assertion are still valid and we can hope to see some results in a few years from now. There really are some nice quotes,
“A single spark can start a prairie fire” – Mao Zedong
“A revolution is not a dinner party, or writing an essay, or painting a picture, or doing embroidery; it cannot be so refined, so leisurely and gentle, so temperate, kind, courteous, restrained and magnanimous. A revolution is an insurrection, an act of violence by which one class overthrows another” – Mao Zedong
“Until the tide goes out, you don’t know who’s swimming naked” – Warren Buffett
“History is a nightmare from which I am trying to awake” – James Joyce
“Thinkers prepare the revolution; bandits carry it out” – Mariano Azuela
